Program Description
Guest Presenters: Eleanor Hoffman, M.A., M.S.E.S. will present AutoCAD, David McCoy will present Intaglio and Marty Michener, PhD. will present Botany Everywhere, an e-book for plant identification
Learn the secrets to using software tools that will increase your business productivity and help you in your landscape projects. We will look at CAD design software, drawing software for the Mac OS and finally plant identification software. Presenters will provide overviews of the software products and describe their use. They will discuss the software products’ learning curve and features. Handouts will provide additional information including tips and tricks, equipment requirements, costs and other special considerations and comparisons. Attendees are also encouraged to bring examples that have been created using these software programs or others for a show and tell session at the end of our program.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned landscape professional, this program will give you the information you need to find the software that will work for you in your landscape business. It will allow you to make an informed decision by giving you a real-world perspective of the products’ capabilities.

Eleanor Hoffman, M.A., M.S.E.S., is a certified landscape designer and consultant. She lectures and teaches about horticulture and landscape design, writes, photographs, and leads garden tours. She gives computer training in CAD and computer graphics to landscape designers at the New York Botanical Garden and privately. Her landscape work encompasses residential, institutional, and civic projects. She brings the natural and built environments together and incorporates an understanding of ecological processes and environmental principles of the landscape into gardens. She trained at NYBG and the CUNY Graduate Program, Cornell University, Radcliffe Graduate Seminars in Landscape Design and Landscape Design History, and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Bard College, and holds degrees and certificates in botany, horticulture, landscape design, and environmental studies.
David McCoy, is a landscape designer and sculptor. He is the principal of Geographia Landscape Design, creating and maintaining gardens in the greater Boston area for more than 10 years. He teaches Introduction to Landscape Design at Harvard University's Arnold Arboretum. The most recent exhibit of his sculpture was a solo show at the Artist's Foundation in Boston. He has a Graduate Certificate in Landscape Design from Radcliffe Seminars and a BFA from the joint School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA)/ Tufts University degree program. Event Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel an event (program, workshop, or tour) registration and receive a partial refund by notifying us (by email)
up to the time of the event. With such cancellations, a cancellation
fee of 15% (with a minimum of $5.00) plus paypal processing fees will
be deducted. Cancellations received after this time, or after the event
will not be refunded. We regret that no refunds or credits can be given
for events that are in progress or that you have not attended.
If registration numbers are insufficient, The Underground reserves the
right to cancel a program. In this case a full refund will be issued.
The Underground also reserves the right to modify this general
cancellation and refund policy for a specific event as needed; any
modifications will be announced with the details of that event.
Weather Cancellations
Program cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced in
advance of the event (typically by email). If you think that your
program may be cancelled please call us at 508-872-3792 to confirm.

If paying by check, make checks payable to The
Underground and mail it along with a printed copy of your online
registration form to the address below.
